The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling with Foundation Year is aimed at students interested in the human mind, behaviour and emotions, as well as how to help others with counselling skills. This course provides a good academic foundation for those looking to start a fulfilling career in a psychology, mental health, or counselling-related field.

In the Foundation Year, you will develop essential skills in academic writing, research and communication so that students who do not fit the traditional application criteria can be able to move confidently onto a degree. Once you are in the second year of the degree, you will study core areas of psychology, including personality, development, cognition and behaviour, whilst also developing practical counselling skills to apply your learning to real-world settings.

This course combines scientific understanding and knowledge alongside theory and practice based on empathy, enabling you to explore various areas of practice, working in fields such as mental health services, education, social care and many more.
